Perform a domain name holder search?
Find out how you can request a search from the Domain Name Commission (DNC) of any domain names that are currently registered to yourself or another registrant (domain name holder).
We have put together this guide, if you have any questions that relate to a registrant search that this guide doesn’t cover, please contact us.
We do allow for additional search functionality of the .nz domain names in special circumstances. These are listed below:
WHO1 - How do I request a search of domain names registered to myself (or an entity I work for)?
If you would like the DNC to perform a search on your behalf of any domain names that are currently registered to you (or an entity that you represent), you can fill out our WHO1 application form here.
WHO-2 - How do I request a search of domain names registered to another registrant?
You can only request a search of domain names registered to another registrant, if the search is related to a Dispute Resolution Service (DRS) application. Here is some more information about the DRS process.
To request this search you can fill out our WHO2 application form here.
If you are requesting this information on behalf of a DRS complainant, you will need to fill out our WHO3 application form here.
What documentation do you need?
You will need to provide us with evidence that you have the authority to apply for this search. If you are applying as an individual you will need to provide us with a photocopy of your driver’s license or passport, etc.
If you are applying on behalf of a company, you will need to provide us with written authorisation signed by the director of this company.
If you are requesting a search on a deceased registrant or you are the liquidator of an insolvent company you will need to provide evidence that you have the authority to request this search.
What happens once I have submitted my application?
We will acknowledge that we have received your request. Once we have processed your application we will contact you to let you know if it has been approved or declined.
If your application is approved, we will aim to provide this information to you within 48 hours of acknowledging receipt of your request.
